Abstract

Workflow management for product design process is the core management process which influences the project development cycle and total benefit. Workflow structured modeling methodology based on Petri net for product design process was proposed in order to manage and control workflow dynamics and uncertainty. Seven basic structured modules for structured modeling based on Petri net were defined. The core patterns for workflow structured modeling were identified as sequence, overlap, iteration, couple, split and join. A building services detailed design process was used for workflow structured modeling and simulation analysis. The correctness and validity of the methodology was demonstrated through the case.
