Abstract

With the advantages of good magnetization-manipulation ability and torque-output capability, the reverse- salient series I-Λ-magnetic-pole variable-flux machine (RSSIΛ-VFM) is considered as the candidate for electric machine field. In this paper, the magnetization-manipulation principle of RSSIΛ-VFM is introduced. The influence of winding arrangement of the machine on stator MMF is analyzed, by which the selection principle of pole-slot match is given. The influences of magnetization-state variation on the back electromotive force, inductance and electromagnetic torque are researched, and the relationship between inductance and distribution of d-axis magnetic field is investigated. The variation law of reverse-salient ratio of the machine is analyzed, and then the efficiency characteristics at different magnetization states are discussed. Finally, the prototype of RSSIΛ-VFM is manufactured, and the experiment is carried out to validate the theoretical analysis.
