Abstract

During the design of tensile membrane structures, wind-resistant design is a significant and complex problem. On the basis of the gust loading factor method introduced by A.G. Davenport, this paper proposes some improved measures according to the wind-induced response characteristics of tensile membrane structures, and gives an applied wind-resistant design method suitable for these structures. Systematic parameter analysis of wind-induced response of several typical forms of membrane structures is performed with nonlinear random simulation method in time domain, and some response rules are summarized. Moreover, a formula of the dynamic coefficient is suggested using the proposed wind-resistant method.
