Abstract
To solve such problems as the wind-induced buffeting and the comfort of builders during the construction of portal bridge pylon, an assessment method for the comfort of builders was proposed. The wind-induced buffeting response and the comfort of builders during the construction of the concrete pylon of a long-span suspension bridge were researched using the ANSYS transient dynamic analysis method. The results show that the most disadvantageous case for the comfort of builders during construction of portal bridge pylon is the case 1 without the construction crossbeam rather than the case 4 with the nude pylon. It is unscientific to judge the construction reliability of the pylon with the root mean square and maximum value of displacement. The root mean square and maximum value of displacement as well as the Diekemann index should be synthetically considered to judge the comfort of builders. The present results can provide the theoretical reference for the wind-resistant security control during construction of similar bridge pylons.
