Abstract

Remarkable progresses have been continually reported on welding technology for advanced thermoplastic composites, which make it is close to practice that efficiently producing thermoplastic composite components. To trace these achievements, four kinds of welding methods: resistance welding, ultrasonic welding and linear vibration welding are reviewed in this article. Their basic joining principles are briefly introduced, and the key problems should be noticed in welding processes are analyzed, and their advantages and disadvantages are compared. At last the research directions are proposed.
