abstract = "Electronic commerce is the most visible manifestation yet of the emerging Net economy and the strongest argument for the globalization of markets. It is, therefore, obvious why the role of the government in the digital age is directly, linked to the necessary policies and legislation needed to boost e-commerce. This paper claims than an e-government is much more than a lawmaker to enable e-commerce. Without using political and social science disciplines to envision a new reason of existence for e-governments, the paper establishes a vision and a step-wise approach for governments which want to address the requirements posed by the their 'customers'-citizens and businesses-and prepare themselves for the unpredictable new world of the digital age.",
