N2 - An immersive scene simulation system of water distribution network was created using virtual reality (VR), which is a high-end intuitive user interface that involves real-time simulation, interaction through multiple sensorial channels andwater distribution network modeling technology. The hydraulic andwater quality information were expressed visually and directly in the immersive virtual environment according to the hydraulic and water quality calculating results. Users can be immersed in the water network scene where they could control the water distribution network as what they do in the real world, get the distribution of pressure, flow, and velocity in the water network and analysis the scenarios.Water network scenarios could be updated with the action users made in the scene simulation and the change of user's view points. Compared with conventional simulation software systems, users could acquire all kinds of information actively, not passively. The study shows that virtual reality is an effect tool for water distribution network immersive and interactive management, the stateof-the-art can be expressed by virtual reality methods, and users can know about more information with intuitive access and usage.
