abstract = "Viscoelastic dampers are usually used to mitigate vibration of high-rise buildings when subjected to seismic and wind excitations. In this paper, viscoelastic-wall damper, which could be installed at the shear-wall location of high-rise buildings, is proposed to improve the building's energy disspation ability. Based on the proposed Kelvin mathematical model of the viscoelastic-wall damper and a 36-floor frame-shear wall high-rise building prototype model, two finite element models of the structure with and without the viscoelastic-wall dampers are created using the finite element software ABAQUS. Auto-regressive model is used to simulate the random wind dynamic loads. The wind-induced vibration performance was numerically analyzed on the high-rise building with and without viscoelastic-wall dampers. The numerical analysis results indicate that the wind-induced response of the high-rise building could be mitigated effectively when equipped with viscoelastic-wall dampers. The control efficacy of acceleration is more effective than that of structural deformation.",
