Abstract

The hybrid AC/DC power systems, consisting of a large number of voltage-source converters (VSCs), have complex physical and control dynamic interactions. To study these interactions, impedance modelling considering the diversity of control schemes is not yet well solved. This article proposes a modular three-port impedance modelling framework for interlinking voltage-source converters, including the grid following VSC and the grid forming VSC. To reduce repetitive work in modelling, the master feedback controllers are subdivided into multiple submodules and the submodule connection method is proposed. Then, the stability criterion based on the three-port impedance is discussed. Compared with the current impedance modelling method, this method can quickly build the impedance model of the VSCs with different control schemes and is suitable for large hybrid AC/DC power systems. Simulation tests of a grid-connected interlinking converter system validate the effectiveness of the modular three-port impedance modelling method for stability analysis.
