Abstract

Underground commercial space is the objective need of regional business activating and prospering. Utilizing urban underground space reasonably and developing underground commercial space is a mark for mature urban commercial. With the development of economic and population and the growth of consumer demand in China megalopolis, it gradually developed various types of underground commercial streets in Harbin, Dalian, Guangzhou, Zhengzhou and other cities. This paper explored problems and development trends of the development and update of underground commercial streets of Harbin by investigating underground commercial streets which were built in different periods and dissecting theirexternal environment, internal space layout, traffic organization, environment and facilities.Then it leamt from the successful experience of development and construction about underground commercial streets at home and abroad, and proposed development and update strategies for Harbin underground commercial space. This study willprovide reference fordevelopment and update of China underground commercial streets in future.
