Abstract
Ultraviolet (UV) absorption enhancement via localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) supported by In nanoislands on diamond surface was demonstrated. A group of comparative experiment was conducted through fabricating and characterizing diamond UV photodetectors with and without In nanoislands. The measurement results showed that the responsivity of photodetector with In nanoislands was 2.94× 10−3 A/W under 215 nm light illumination at 20 V, which was approximately 192 times than that of photodetector without In, the UV/viable (215 nm/500 nm) rejection ratio was enhanced to about 87 times, and the photodetector with In also exhibited better time response characteristic. Finite difference time domain (FDTD) simulation was conducted to further confirm the optical absorption enhancement effect of In localized surface plasmons (LSPs).
