Abstract

The two-color optical excitation in x-ray pump probe spectroscopy was investigated. It was found that the two-color optical as well as x-ray excitation with constant phase of the pump radiation exhibited strong interference between the one- and two-photon channels. It was observed that the x-ray absorption profile shown a maximum interference pattern when the duration of the probe x-ray pulse was shorter that the inverse frequency of the pump field. The results show that the absolute phase of the pump light strongly influence the spectral shape of the x-ray absorption.
