Abstract
In current study, the treatment of emulsified oil wastewater with high concentration was investigated by UV/Fenton technology. Effects of concentration of the ferrous, hydrogen peroxide, pH, reaction time and stir on the COD removal were studied. Results showed that UV/Fenton technology could achieve high removal efficiency for the treatment of emulsified oil wastewater with high concentration. The optimal COD removal was obtained when pH was 3, and concentrations of ferrous and hydrogen peroxide were 2400 mg/L and 6000 mg/L, respectively. Under the above conditions, COD could be reduced from 35000 mg/L to 1 050 mg/L for treatment of 2 h, and the COD removal rate was as high as 97%. However, stir reduced the COD removal. Moreover, the consumption of chemicals was fairly low. The results indicated that UV/Fenton was an effective technology for the treatment of emulsified oil wastewater with high concentration.
