Abstract

The crystallographic structure, phase constitution, density - composition dependence, oxidation resistance and general mechanical behavior of ternary Ti-Al-Nb intermetallic alloys were investigated. Two attractive ordered high temperature alloys, Ti-10Nb-45Al and Ti-18Nb-48Al, which could perform at temperatures above 1000°C, have been developed and their characteristics were discussed.
