Abstract

Response of a substrate/coating structure subjected to dynamic heating has been considered. By utilizing Laplace transform and Fourier transform technique, the general solutions for temperature field and stress fields were studied. The dynamic thermal stresses were presented under the different heating rates for various substrate and coating thicknesses. The possible failure mode and optimized coating thickness were analyzed.
