Abstract

This paper presented a mathematical model with respect to the secondary piezoelectric effect of a piezoelectric cantilever energy harvester. The numerical results show that the secondary piezoelectric effect produces an additional electrical stiffness to affect the resonant frequency. A finite element model of the piezoelectric cantilever was developed to analyze the effects of the resistive load on the resonant frequency. Experiments were carried out to verify the validity of the mathematical model and the finite element analysis. The experimental results show that when the load resistance increases from 100 Ω to 100 KΩ, the resonant frequency increases from 139.2 Hz to 143.8 Hz. The experimental results are in accordance with the theoretical results.
