Abstract

In order to overcome problems existing in the laser radar, such as sensitive to vibration, big size, insecure to the eyes and other issues, on the basis of integrating the status quo of laser radar at home and abroad, a new fiber laser radar system was presented. The fiber laser was used as the radiation source, and the usage of numerous optical fiber devices in the light path made the structure size smaller. Based on the coherent detective principle, according to laser radar ranging equation, the relationship between the signal to noise ratio and operation range of fiber laser radar was given. According to the selected device parameters, through theoretical calculation, a maximal range of 2 km was obtained at the situation of the probability of detection is 0.9, while the false alarm probability is less than 10-4. The designed optical fiber laser radar is small, compact, novel, and has a good detection capability.
