Abstract
Silver nanowires (Ag NWs) are gaining significant interest as a promising material for applications in flexible electronics. However, the growth mechanism of Ag NWs, particularly during the polyol synthesis process, remains unclear due to the complex reduction pathways of ethylene glycol (EG). In this paper, first-principles calculation method was employed to investigate the influence of oxygen during the growth of Ag NWs. Specifically, oxygen affects the decomposition products of ethylene glycol and thus the reducibility of EG. This research aims to reveal the mechanism of oxygen promoting the growth of Ag NWs.
