N2 - Household probability distribution and the trip production forecast models based on the trip characteristics of a household are discussed by applying the methodologies of cluster analysis, cross-classification method as well as probability theory. Data are obtained from a home interview origin-destination survey in Jinzhou, Liaoning province, China, financially supported by a World Bank investment project. Firstly, the households are classified to 6 categories by the hierarchical cluster analysis. Then, the household distribution probability models which contain the independent variables of household income, car ownership (i.e., vehicles available per household), and household size (i.e., number of persons per household), are calibrated by regression analysis for each type of these six kinds of household. Lastly, the trip production models based on cross-classification methods and the probability methods are established.
