Abstract
The studies on particulate reinforced magnesium matrix composites are reviewed with emphasis on their fabrication methods, interface behavior, thermodynamics and kinetic. In addition, the strengthening mechanisms and room temperature mechanical properties are simply introduced. At last, the future trends of in situ reactive synthesizing techniques for the fabrication of particulate reinforced magnesium matrix composites are presented. Magnesium matrix composites have a great potential to be widely used in aerospace and automobile industries because of their high-performances such as low density, high specific strength and modulus, high wear and temperature resistance and shock absorbing properties.
