Abstract

A novel method is proposed to measure the phase modulation properties of twist nematic liquid crystal spatial light modulator (TN-LCSLM). The wavefront modulated by the TN-LCSLM was dealt by lateral shearing interferometry, and the interferogram was got ten by CCD. The minmum-energy algorithm was used to get the phase distribution of the wavefront, and the phase modulation curves of TN-LCSLM was obtained. It is a good method for being less sensitive to vibrations and air turbulence. Further more, the three dimensional description of the phase modulation range of TN-LCSLM with different orientations of the input and output polarizers was measured. It makes references for optimizes the TN-LCSLM.
