Abstract

In general, it should consider both the system throughput and the average end-to-end delay for evaluating a MAC protocol in UWB-Ad hoc system. Also QoS guarantee is the basic element for a communication system in the real world. Accordingly, some particular feathers to the MAC layer designing are provided for the special characteristics of UWB-Ad hoc system in this paper. Meanwhile, a mass of rate-control based MAC protocols are investigated. An idea of average Signal-Interference-and-Noise-Ratio (SINR) is proposed in order to estimate the channel status. The performance of rate-control MAC protocols for UWB-Ad hoc system is evaluated with the modifying channel condition. According to the results, a new scheme is proposed to apply to QoS guarantee for the system.
