Abstract

A numerical investigation of separation control by using corner endwall jet is conducted for a high speed linear compressor cascade with an inlet Mach number of Ma=0.67. The influence of the jet parameters including the location and the direction are discussed in detail. The results show that the injection of energy into the corner can weaken the boundary layer separation on the suction surface effectively. With a tiny jet-to-mainstream mass flow ratio of 0.6%, a maximum loss reduction of 10.0% relative to the baseline case is obtained. The optimal jet location is the starting point of the separation line. With the increase of jet angle, the impact losses between the jet and main flow and the mixing effects are strengthened, thus enhancing the flow separation in the mid-span region and reducing the benefits of jet on the cascade performance.
