The Measuring System of the Active Electromagnetic Armor Based on CAN Bus

Abstract

The active electric armor (EM) armor test is a pulsed power test under the condition of high voltage, big electric current discharge. There are many signals to be measured during the process, including mainly the pulsed high voltage, pulsed big current, intense magnetic field, the velocity and position of the interceptor, etc. The test environment possesses the characteristics of intense EM pulsed radioactivity and excludability. The signals are very broad-spectrum single transient ones. Thus it is difficult to accomplish the task of data acquisition by conventional data acquisition system and general measuring equipment. Our data acquisition system based on CAN(Control Area Net) bus is consisted of the controlling computer and a certain number of the on-the- spot data acquisition knobs. Its features are realization, intellectualization, wholly distribution and so on. It has high communication rates, reliable operation, and convenient connection, low cost and is easy to extend its knobs. By adding other knobs such as control execute, alarm, display and so on, it can form a complete on-the-spot bus control system. That can sufficiently meet the measuring and controlling needs of the EM armor and other pulsed power tests.
