Abstract

As a novel tubular linear motor, the merits of transverse flux tubular permanent magnet linear motor (TFTPMLM) different from other traditional linear motors are as follows: there is no competition between the space requirement of flux carrying core irons and the space occupied by armature windings. It can increase the force density due to the magnetic load and the electric load are decoupled. Transverse flux tubular PMLM seems to be suitable for some fields requiring high force density. This paper investigates the copper loss, stator core loss and eddy current loss in permanent magnet of the transverse flux tubular PMLM in a variable-speed reciprocating periodic motion mode. Firstly, it is proposed the copper loss calculation method considering the armature winding current amplitude as sine function changes. Secondly, it is proposed a method of calculating the variable speed reciprocating periodic motion of the stator core loss. In order to verify the accuracy of calculation, the core loss measurement is designed and the comparison results are analyzed. Finally, the paper calculates the eddy current loss in permanent magnet of the transverse flux tubular PMLM in the variable-speed reciprocating periodic motion.
