The impact of key digital transformation technologies on supply chain resilience: a meta-analysis

Digital transformation has been considered as one of the most prevailing management practices for enhancing supply chain resilience. As its core elements, digital technologies that have been widely used in practice have drawn much attention. Yet, existing researchers’ attitudes towards the impact of digital technologies on supply chain resilience are inconsistent. Moreover, most literature often focuses on a single technology dimension and neglects exploring effects of digital technology profiles. From this perspective, this study aims to explore the overall impact of three key technologies of digital transformation on the supply chain resilience through a meta-analysis. Meanwhile, moderating effects of industry sector, economic region and logistics performance are also investigated. Results revealed that key digital technologies exert favourable influences on supply chain resilience, among which artificial intelligence presents the greatest impact. Meanwhile, this impact is more pronounced in the manufacturing sector compared to that in the service sector. Furthermore, blockchain technology works more effectively on improving supply chain resilience in the service sector and low logistics performance areas. Research findings on the impact of key technologies on enhancing supply chain resilience in different contexts not only offer valuable insights but also highlight significant managerial implications in this area.
