Abstract
This essay, by borrowing the term of "Postindian Warrior" coined by Gerald Vizenor, an Indian American author, explores Sherma Alexie's novel The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian. It argues that Arnold Junior Spirit, the protagonist of this novel, is an image of such postindian warrior. The construction and affirmation of such an image by both the White and Indian communities is not only due to Junior's own qualities but to the power of human nature, which reflects the author's social ideal and aspiration for humanity.
