Abstract

Bionic laminated ZrB₂-SiC/BN ceramic was prepared by tape casting and hot pressing, and its mechanical properties and microstructure were investigated in detail. This laminated ZrB₂-SiC/BN ceramic has notably higher toughness and thermal shock resistance than ZrB₂-SiC ceramics. The results indicate a promising method for improving the fracture toughness and thermal shock resistance of ZrB₂-based ceramics.
