Abstract

In this paper, the present situation of numerical simulation of welding microstructures is analyzed and its trend of further research is presented as well. Three main microstructure modeling methods, namely Monte Carlo, Cellular Automaton and Phase Field, are introduced and their features and limits in simulating grain growth, micro-structure and phases friction during solidification and phase evolution processes are discussed in detail.
