Abstract

The calculation of magnetic pressure is a basic problem of electromagnetic forming and the foundation of deformation analysis. In this paper, by means of numerical simulation, the finite element analysis (FEA) model and the boundary conditions are established on the basis of theoretical analysis of the magnetic field properties. The effect of tube length on magnetic pressure in tube electromagnetic bulging is studied thoroughly. The relationship between tube length and magnetic pressure at tube middle is illuminated and the distribution of magnetic pressure with different tube lengths is presented. Experiments of electromagnetic flange and electromagnetic bulging with tube longer than the coil are also presented. Experimental results agree well with simulated results.
