Abstract

The reinforced concrete structures are extensively used, and its durability needs to study urgently. In the general air environment, the corrosion of reinforcement and the carbonation of concrete are the important factors for the RC structures durability, which effect seismic resistance of the RC structures. Thus the seismic resistance should be introduced to durability design. In this paper, the weak story drift of structure subjected to rare earthquake is utilized as seismic resistance index of the structure, and the seismic evaluation of the structure considering the influence of corrosion of reinforcement is implemented by improved capacity method. Based on seismic resistance and improvement capacity spectrum method a durability design method for the RC structures is proposed, and the necessity of the durability evaluation of the structure considering its seismic resistance has been shown by an example.
