Abstract
This paper uses the improved total least mean square matrix pencil method to study the pole characteristics of ship target in short-band. First, it studies the pole feature of complex ship target burke class with various variation of size and structure. Then by comparing the results with the original ship, we get the contribution of every part of the ship to the pole. The research results show that the pole is mainly determined by the main body of the ship especially the length. While its superstructure has less impact and the location of superstructure is independent on the pole. This provides a favorable foundation for future modeling and simulation and target recognition.
