Abstract
The CE (the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers) wind-field model described by a group of non-linear partial differential equations is introduced, and the finite difference solution method for the wind field model is presented. Based on CE wind-field model and the satellite observation datum of key typhoon parameters, the hindcast wind field of typhoon Hagupit, which hit Guangdong in 2008, is simulated. The comparison of the 10-minute averaged wind speeds and directions between the numerical results and the filed measurements demonstrates reasonable agreements, indicating that the CE typhoon wind-field model is applicable for simulating the typhoon in the South China coastal region and for the Monte Carlo based typhoon wind hazard analysis in such region.
