N2 - To analyze the impulse radio ultra-wideband (IRUWB) system performance, a system model with coherent demodulation is proposed in the presence of inter-symbol interference, intra-symbol multipath interference and multiuser interference. Then through analyzing and calculating the variances of these three interferences respectively, the bit error rate (BER) formulation is obtained and verified in comparison with computer simulations. From the BER formulation, the system throughput, expressed as the product of transmission data rate and user number, is deduced when considering system BER requirement, and then the tendency of system throughout is analyzed.
