Abstract

The aim of paper is to improve living environment, reduce energy consumption and carbon emission of rural house in cold region of China. Work has been undertaken to investigate the low carbon housing in north of China. The test content includes temperature, humidity, heat transfer coefficient and surface temperature of building envelope and indoor air quality. By analysing the test results, it is indicated the thermal insulation performance of the low carbon house which used glass fibre board as its insulation material is better. The energy consumption of the low carbon building is 57% of the traditional one's. And its carbon dioxide emission is reduced by 21963.33 kg in one heating season. Thus, the low carbon building is appropriate to apply in the countryside of severe cold region of China. And it would be benefited in social, economy and environment.
