Abstract

In order to master the failure mechanism of joint of steel sandwich panels, methods of theory analysis, experiment research and finite element simulation are adopted to study the joint failure of steel and core material with different thickness. It is shown that, for proof and wall sandwich panel, the failure of joint is caused by local buckling of steel plate and punching of steel plate, respectively. The design formula of joint bearing capacity is presented, which can be used as reference for design. Increasing the stiffness of rock wool and the bound strength, or increasing the thickness of steel plate can improve the joint bearing capacity of roof panel.
