Technical dimension in contemporary architectural design

Architectural design concerns about space and form, and is usually within the perspective of cultural trend. In the examination and appreciation of architectural design, nowadays, technology is attaching growing significance. Technology is never the final aim of design and creation but the method and process to them. During this course, however, architects could not ignore such areas as structural form, interface surface, constructing methods, even materials and facilities and infrastructural components. As different aspects, technology becomes gradually from method and means to a phenomenon and purpose, and even is deliberately and exaggeratedly expressed. Technical performance has become the expression of innovative trend in architectural creation and inclusive multi-orientation. Based on the study of architectural design, temporal mission of technology is analyzed; dual-trend of technology is generalized; designing speculation of technology is dissected; future tendency of technology is shown. Architectural construction has entered real technology-oriented era. Design and technology are two aspects of architecture, and are with a relationship of mutual-promoted and circular spiral pattern.
