Abstract

A new and effective tangential connection clustering routing algorithm has been proposed in this paper for the implementation of automatic meter reading (AMR) systems using power line communication (PLC) technology. This new routing topology involves the characteristic of traditional clustering radial connections between different layers and new tangential connections among nodes in the same layer. A new communication routing protocol and local routing chat have been established to complete the network building and broadcasting functions. The performance of the proposed routing algorithm is analyzed in MATLAB and compared with that of the clustering routing algorithm. The proposed tangential connection clustering routing algorithm ensures significantly higher reliability than the traditional clustering model.
