System performance reliability assessment based on performance degradation and Monte-Carlo simulation

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The previous performance reliability studies only focus on components or system separately, and lack in an approach to combine them together effectively. As a result, the large amount of component degradation information from the manufacturers and users can not be sufficiently used in the early phase of system design. This paper presents a performance reliability assessment method for electronic systems based on component degradation and circuit simulation. Firstly, the circuit simulation model is built according to the principle of the electronic system, and then the sensitive components that significantly affect the system performance are identified with sensitivity analysis. Then, the performance parameter degradation models of the sensitive components are established based on the degradation data. On this basis, Monte-Carlo sampling and circuit simulation are used to obtain the degradation data of the system performance parameters, and the system performance reliability assessment is achieved. Finally, the constant-current power supply used in a certain equipment was taken as an example to illustrate the method in detail and verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
