Abstract

In this article, an oxomolybdate-copper cluster, [Cu4(PPh 3)6][Mo8O26] (1), has been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction structure analysis, IR spectrum and XRD analysis. The crystal structure shows that the centrosymmetric [Mo8O26]4- anion is built with eight MoO6 edge-shared octahedra, which belongs to the typical β-octamolybdate arrangement. The title cluster exhibits nonlinear optical properties (NLO) with effective third-order NLO absorptive index α2 and refractive index n2 value 12.9×10 -11 MKS and 3.13×10-11 esu, respectively.
