Abstract
Polymer(N-vinyl carbazole) containing (p-nitrophenyl)azo as bi-functional matric in polymeric photorefractive material was studied in this paper. Poly(N-vinyl carbazole) containing (p-nitrophenyl) azo was synthesized by post-azo-coupling reaction using sodium dodecylben-zenesulphonate as phase-transfer catalysts. Its coupled product was analyzed by IR, UV-vis, 1H-NMR and GPC techniques. The IR, UV-vis and 1H-NMR measure indicates that diazo has been grafted to carbazole. The test of UV-vis also manifests that the influence of coupling time on diazo content is great. The result of GPC indicates that molecular weight has been raised after polymer coupling.
