N2 - Sideband harmonic current components exist in permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) system driven by space vector pulse-width modulation (PWM) technique with voltage source inverter. These harmonic components may increase motor losses, generate electromagnetic noise as well as torque pulsation. In this paper, the sideband harmonics are analytically modeled in the PMSM stator frame with high accuracy. The stator resistance voltage drop and the PM flux linkage are both considered in the analytical model to improve its precision. The specific expressions for the sideband harmonics from the first to fourth carrier frequencies are given, and the accuracy is verified by comparing with experimental results. Finally, the characteristics of the sideband harmonics are analyzed under different speeds and load conditions as well as different switching frequencies and modulation ratios, their variation rules are summarized and verified by experiments.
