Abstract

In order to solve the problems of complex operation and poor real-time characteristic in the space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) algorithm of five-phase voltage source inverter (VSI), a equivalent SVPWM algorithm based on modulation functions is proposed. According to the theory of PWM symmetrical and regular sampling in which the modulated wave compares with the carrier, the modulation functions can be directly calculated after judging the reference voltage vector is in which sector. When saturation phenomenon occurred, the division operation in the traditional algorithm was replaced by limiting the amplitude of modulation functions. The theoretical analysis shows that the proposed method avoids complex coordinate transformations and trigonometric calculations, and the calculation accuracy and speed are improved effectively. The correctness and availability of the proposed method are validated by the experiment results.
