Abstract

Using the material parameters of relaxor-based 0.88Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3-0.12PbTiO3(PZN-12%PT) ferroelectric single crystals at room temperature, the surface acoustic wave propagation properties of the 0.88Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3-0.12PbTiO3 single crystal poled along [001]c were calculated. The results show that the surface acoustic wave properties of PZN-12%PT single crystals are better than that of conventional piezoelectric materials, but are lower than that of rhombohedral phase PZN-PT crystals. It is also found that the surface acoustic wave properties of PZN-12%PT single crystals of different cutting types are different. Considering the three kinds of the surface acoustic wave properties of crystals comprehensively, it is discovered that the comprehensive surface acoustic wave properties of the Y-cut crystals possess superior performance. The higher Curie temperature of PZN-12%PT single crystals can extend the working temperature range of piezoelectric devices.
