Abstract
A study was conducted to obtain superplasicity in Mg-8.5Li alloy that was prepared by stir casting and high ratio extrusion. The composition of the binary Mg-Li alloy was selected as Mg-8.5Li, as it was within the eutectic range that was needed to make a two-phase mixture microstructure. The alloy was cast by a stirring route, followed by high ratio extrusion at 623 k. It was observed that the flow stress of the Mg-8.5Li alloy increases, with the strain rate, along with decrease in testing temperature.
