Abstract
We have prepared two sets of YBaSrCu3-xFexO y (0 ≤ x ≤ 1.0) samples under a high pressure of 6 GPa and the ambient condition, respectively. All materials synthesized under the high pressure are superconductors, in contrast, materials prepared under the ambient condition show superconducting transitions merely in the range of 0 ≤ x < 0.3. Electron-energy-loss spectroscopy analyses indicate that the density of the charge carriers (holes) in the high-pressure samples is much higher than that in the samples prepared under the ambient condition. Some microstructure features and lattice defects in the high-pressure samples have been investigated by high-resolution electron microscopy and selected-area electron diffraction.
