Abstract

1865 type of LiFePO4 lithium ion battery have been prepared, using LiFePO4 as cathode material and graphite as anode material. The thermal effect of the battery was investigated at different charging/ discharging current and environment. The results showed that the heat mainly came from the irreversible thermal effect, i.e. the heat derived from internal resistance of the cell. The heat was linear with the current, and increased with the increase of current. These results provided the foundation of LiFePO4 lithium ion battery applying to electric car.
