Abstract
The long-term stability of heavy metals in landfilled municipal solid waste incinerator (MSWI) fly ash has consistently been a significant topic in industrial research. This study investigates the stability characteristics of lead dimethyldithiocarbamate (LDTC), a compound formed by the reaction of the organic chelating agent sodium dimethyldithiocarbamate (SDTC) with lead ions, which are prevalent in MSWI fly ash. The results indicate that LDTC decomposes during storage at room temperature, with leaching toxicity gradually increasing over time. The rate of decomposition is notably more pronounced under open storage conditions compared to sealed storage. After 60 days of open storage, the leaching concentrations of LDTC in water at pH levels of 5.3, 6.6, and 12 were measured at 1.545 mg/L, 0.594 mg/L, and 15.334 mg/L, respectively. These concentrations represent increases of 149%, 243%, and 247% compared to the initial values.
