Abstract

A new pseudonoise (PN) code acquisition detector is proposed for direct sequence spread spectrum (DS/SS) system in unknown noise model based on fractional maximum entropy probability density function (PDF) estimation and locally optimal detector (LOD). Firstly, the detector estimates the PDF of observation noise through the fractional maximum entropy. Then the optimal acquisition structure combined with LOD is obtained, and the simpler-acquisition structure is proposed. Numerical results show that the conventional square-sum (SS) detector performs slightly better than the proposed LO detector in Gaussian channels, but the proposed detector can offer substantial performance improvement over the conventional SS detector in non-Gaussian impulsive channels.
