Abstract
Two kinds of polyferric-silicate flocculants were prepared by using activated water-glass and polyferric which were respectively polyferric sulphate silicate (PFSS) and polyferric chlorate silicate (PFCS). The property of polyferric silicate with different anion was studied by means of pH relaxation, PCS and TEM technology. The results proved that the hydrolytic speed of PFSS was slower than that of PFCS, but the later was more stable. The mean diameter of PFSS was about 1348.8 nm with thick and strong chain-net structure, while the mean diameter of PFCS was about 508.5 nm with close and uniform chain-net structure. In addition, the PFSS coagulation effect was superior to that of PFCS when they were applied to treat low turbidity sewage at low temperature. Thus it can be seen that anion play an important role on the hydrolysis, structure and coagulation effect of composite polyferric-silicate.
